Joshua Jackson
Joshua Carter Jackson is a Canadian actor. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to an American father and an Irish-born mother. He currently divides his time between Los Angeles and Vancouver. Previously he lived in Wilmington, North Carolina, where the television program Dawson's Creek was filmed.
Joshua grew up in California and Seattle until age 8, when he moved back to Vancouver with his mother and younger sister. Soon after he took up acting, landing a role in a commercial for Keebler's Potato Chips. He is best known for the role of Pacey Witter on Dawson's Creek, but he has also appeared in several movies including Cruel Intentions, The Mighty Ducks series, Apt Pupil, Scream 2, The Laramie Project and The Skulls. In 2005 he was one of the few actors to be considered for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in "Batman Begins". He will next appear in the all-star ensemble drama Bobby, directed by Emilio Estevez, Joshua's co-star from The Mighty Ducks.
Joshua is left-handed and is 6 foot 2. Joshua dated two of his Dawson's Creek co-stars: actress Katie Holmes in 1998, and actress Brittany Daniel in 1999-2000. Joshua also dated Rosario Dawson and has currently been spotted kissing Diane Kruger whilst on vacation in Paris.

He is by far my most favourite Canadian! My first celebrity crush, the pretty and oh so witty Joshua Jackson!

a morning to myself...

I've been working mornings for the past couple of weeks so haven't been able to do two of my most favourite things: sleep in and eat a hearty breakfast.

So this morning i did just that. I woke up at 10am, showered then went down to Giotto Art Cafe for breakfast which is a cafe on my street. Upstairs there's an art gallery as well. I ordered the Giotto Breakfast which had all the things a breakfast should have; bacon, eggs, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, sausages and toast! Oh it was delicious and to accompany it i had a nice big cup of Chai tea.

It has been ages since i had even had time to myself so i decided to take a book with me as well. At the moment i'm reading The layers of the city by Antoni Jach. Its a cross section analysis of understanding the many layers of a city. The city under the magnifying glass is Paris. I am loving this book. It is so different to any book i have ever read. The sentences are short but very descriptive. The author himself is the observer. Its a book i just randomly found when i was trying to find a good read at the library last week.

Work has been chaotic with so many flight delays and cancellations so it was nice just to claim back an hour of my day to myself and no one else.

QotD: Random Acts of Kindness

What was your random act of kindness today?

I befriended a Korean backpacker at the train station after work tonight. His name is Seong. He was really nice and just needed directions and it happened that i was going where he needed to go so i caught the train with him. He told me his initial impression of Australia was negative because of his horrible couple of hours here thus far. Firstly, the guy that was meant to come pick him up from the airport didn't show then he tried calling and the number given was the wrong one. Secondly, one of the straps of his backpack broke whilst being baggage handled. I felt so bad for him because he then had to wait around an hour to activate his sim card here in Sydney. He then said that i was the nicest person he had come across so far in his 3 hours here! It was a really sweet compliment especially coming from a complete stranger. I felt like a nice person in that moment.
Since the last post i have just been at work and on my days off i've just been hanging out at home watching the complete 3rd season of Dawson's Creek! I downloaded it last week and have not left the computer since! I've been staying up till 4am watching the episodes and re-watching them! I'm such a fan!
I have the next two days off so i might go to the gallery and do some things on my own. I haven't really gone anywhere by myself in a while. So that should be a good little expedition for myself.
Not much else has happened in my life. I've just eaten an entire packet of chocolate biscuits so i may definately even visit the gym in the next two days!

finally some time...

It makes me sad when i am not constantly updating my vox. I love my vox. I am on holidays now too so there really is no excuse to not have been updating more regularly!

We just had a long weekend here in Sydney. And just my luck i had the entire weekend off. It was great. I spent time with all the people i really wanted to see. That made me smile from friday to monday!

Armin van Buuren was on Friday night. An absolutely amazing 9 hour set. He reignited my passion for trance and all things vocal. I loved it.

Saturday i spent all day in bed. I caught up on some much needed sleep! A whole 11 hours. Then i went to the watering hole Arq with the usual posse Melody and Reece. We met so many fresh funny faces. It was awesome.

Sunday was spent continuing on the party at Melody's house. Then a late night catch up with someone.

This someone is someone i know i should not hang out with in that way. But the thing is he is perfect. In every way i could ever want someone in my life to be; he is just right. The thing is that i know that it will never be what i expect it to be. This must be confusing you all but at the moment i don't know if i'm ready to admit specifics. Put simply he is the last person i ever thought anything would happen with. Not in a bad way, but in a OMG really! way. Christ i sound like a looney right about now. I need to slap myself back into reality and get off that cloud. But in the mean time i'm not too sure where i am comfortable sitting...

Just another thing i need to figure out i guess. Work is horrible. I dread waking up and going EVERY DAY! It never gets better. It actually gets worse and worse as the days slip by. I need to stay here for at least a year i guess. It would look bad on my CV. I really want to start a job in the field of my degree, but i guess i should hold out till our internships start next year.

And dare i say that i miss uni? I miss the pressure and the thought of waking up in the morning and actually doing something other than go to work.

I shall vox hop tomorrow after work. Hope everyone is well :-)

Here is my assemblage sculpture. I coudn't find my camera so i just took photos off my phone camera. dodgy and not the greatest lighting! But yes here is my work Longevity.

Longevity

I am pretty pleased with the overall look of the work. My statement i think is strong enough to hold the artwork. The work is about the power that print media has over audio media. Print media has staying power. Audio media has evolved from records, tapes, cd's and now mp3's. Whereas newspapers have always retained certain qualities through the times. Also the influence print media has over audio media is evident in reviews. Reviews for cd's singles and artists all influence the eventual sale and success of audio media. Hmmmm

My week has been ok. Work is out of control busy. I have my first weekend off work in ages so i am going to let my hair done a bit and put my feet up.

Friday: I'm just about to leave for my work buddy Carlos' birthday drinks at the Establishment. Quite the swanky joint but hopefully fun nonetheless.

Saturday: Gallery hopping with Selena after she knocks off work.

Sunday: more gallery hopping with miss Melody. Then my friend Shiva's farewell at Cafe Lounge for tapas and drinks! mmm tapas!

Hope everyone has been well. I've been checking in with the hood as much as i can! I miss you all and hope to become a regular vox-er again. My god damn job has put so many things in my life on delay! Enjoy the weekend kids!

tomorrow is the last day of semester then i get 2 months off for winter break!
all my major works are a work in progress, i just hate showing a process diary because i'm just too damn lazy.
the weekend is here with 3 birthday celebrations i need to attend
in 2 weeks time i would have paid off my leather jacket i put on lay-by. i love it sick!
i actually have enough money this week considering its an inbetween pay week, my usual broke ass period haha
my iTunes playlists get me through my boring nights
i finished my book! I'm going to the library to get another in the evening tomorrow! I've always been curious about Voltaire so maybe something to do with him
Stanley (our resident dog) has become quite the companion for me. I never thought i could love the dog but i do!

ON THE - side

my mum and i are not speaking anymore.
work is driving me insane, why are there always more lazy people than pro active in a workplace
all my majors are due at the same time, meaning four different process diaries need to be produced
not having enough time to just do something for myself

I had alot of papers,receipts and a strip of negatives in there as well but i didn't want it to look like too much of a mess!
I joined the City of Sydney library yesterday with Paul. The night before i stumbled across its website and was instantly drawn to the 20 item borrow limit! I loved it sick! I really haven't borrowed from a library since high school since i always seem to incur fines at my uni libraries so i just haven't bothered into getting into that habit.

So on monday Paul and I went and joined the library, which is located in the customs house at Circular Quay. This is where you will find the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is such a pretty library. It looked more like a modern art museum instead of a place that houses thousands of books.

To celebrate my membership i borrowed The Art of Dying Young: Vicious by Mark Paytress. Its an interesting look into the life and short times of Sid Vicious, the drummer of infamous punk rock band the Sex Pistols. So far so good. He was such a character yet seemed to throw away his life all for the heck of it, well for the sake of being true to the anarchy that punk rock exuded. He was the epitomy of punk. I want to finish it by the end of this week. That's my goal.

My bag carries a lot of other crap like lip balm, work ID, iPod, keys, film, pens, money purse and of course my phone. I can't quite imagine my life without my phone, it would be like losing a child. dramatic much?

I have a couple of final assessments to complete by the end of this week as well. I have a major work for sculpture due on monday and a major work for graphic design due next friday. I really need to get my shit together and start. Procrastinating is how i roll i guess, which might just be the end of me one day.

I better go to bed so i can wake up early and have some sculpture time before work tomorrow. Enjoy the tuesday vox-ers :-)

getting sick ain't so bad...

Today was a great day. I finished up an essay for art theory which i thought was quite good. I had sculpture in the arvo to wind down the week, then hung out with uni buddy Jill for the rest of the arvo.

Went to Burderkin with Deo and the boys, then decided to have an early one and come home and watch a movie. We decided on Michael Moore's 2007 SICKO. My initial expectation was that it would just expose the unreliability of health care within the U.S, but it actually saddened me.

In Australia, we have a universal health care system, this meaning that people of all walks of life are treated for whatever illness they may have. Private Health Insurance in Australia means that they get a certain percentage back from what ever their health cover plan covers. It means you get pushed to the front of the line. But this all does not leave the uninsured lingering for help. We still help, especially those in need. This is not communist or a socialist ideology, this is more the caring for everybody's welfare....everybody's.

I don't know if the film could have been a exaggeration, but watching the people's stories of being denied from treatment made me quite sad. No one deserves to be shunned particularly in their hour of need. This whole issue of people being turned away by the people who say they will help.....aren't. It justs makes me so sad....

I cannot live without extra salt on my food, its a must and most probably will be the end of me in the future.
The ANZAC long weekend just passed and i am slowly picking up the pieces. I did get to hang out with all my favourite people, but in doing so managed to throw $600 away into some deep dark abyss called Smirnoff!
I am a fine arts/design student majoring in Art Theory. I hopefully want to end up working in advertising or in a gallery
I am booking my ticket overseas in 2 weeks. I'm travelling with my high school bestie Serah to New York, Madrid and Bangkok! I absolutely cannot wait!
Sometimes i find my life so exhausting but the thought of doing nothing drives me insane
I love taking photos of everything around me. I have also found a love for 35mm as of late, many thanks to Deo
I got my tickets to Armin Van Buerin! He's the world's no.1 Trance DJ and i absolutely cannot wait to hear my favourite song by him, "Shivers"
My best friend Paul, is all i tell people about when i am drunk. I tell them how strong our friendship is and how i have never loved anyone the way i love him.
